At the start of each round of BUST-A-BOBBLE, the rectangular playing arena contains a prearranged pattern of colored "bobbles." At the bottom of the screen, the player controls a device called a "pointer", (3 white dots) which aims and fires bobbles up the screen. The color of bobbles fired is randomly generated.
The objective of the game is to clear all the bobbles from the arena without any bobble crossing the bottom line.
Move the controller right and left to aim your pointer. Press a side button to launch and fire the bobble. To the left of your character, you will see a colored bobble with the word NEXT above it. This is the next bobble you will have to launch and place into the arena.
Clear all the bobbles from the arena. Time matters as well!
The ceiling descends one row at a time, on a timer. You have 40 seconds on every level before this happens. The bar drains with time and decreases every time you fire.
Two versions of the game are included on the cartridge:
BUST-A-BOBBLE features 30 different levels of play.
BUST-A-BOBBLE 2 features 50 different levels of play.
The game is based on Puzzle Bobble / Bust-A-Move
